 ALLEA

The European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA) released a statement expressing grave concern over the growing threats to academic freedom in the United States, warning of the significant global repercussions for science and international research collaboration. The statement has since received significant and widespread support from science organisations across Europe.

  The Belgian National Committee for Antarctic Research (BNCAR) co-sponsored the one-day meeting on Belgian polar research organized by APECS at the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) in Ostend. The BE-Polar Conference (formerly Belgian Polar Community Day) is an annual, full-day event celebrating Belgium’s polar research community, featuring networking, workshops, and scientific presentations.

  This year, the National Committee for Pure and Applied Physics is organizing an annual colloquium titled "The Nature of Time in Physics". The topic is particularly timely, as the Nobel Prize was recently awarded to Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz, and Anne L’Huillier for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter.

The Chemistry Committee participate in the global event promoting women in science. Three activities are organized in Belgium, in Brussels, Leuven, and Antwerp. The IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB) is an annual worldwide event aimed at strengthening the role of women in science.

The BELQUA Committee organize its annual workshop in Brussels, providing a platform for young scientists in Quaternary sciences to present their work.
