INQUA Executive Committee Meeting (27-29 February 2012) and BELQUA Workshop (1 March 2012)

The International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA) is the international union from which BELQUA is the Belgian representative.
The purpose of BELQUA is to stimulate the Belgian research on various aspects of the Quaternary era.
Later this month, the INQUA Executive Committee Meeting will take place, followed by a workshop organized by BELQUA in the Palace of Academies.
The annual workshop of BELQUA takes place on the 1st of March, with presentations from several foreign professors:
- Prof. Bas van Geel (Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED), Research Group Paleoecology and Landscape Ecology Faculty of Science, Universiteit van Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Paleo-evidence for solar forcing of climate change
- Prof. Julius B. Lejju (Department of Biology, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda), Late Pleistocene to early Holocene climate and vegetation dynamics in the great lakes region of East Africa
- Prof. Fabrizio Antonioli (ENEA, UTMEA, Casaccia, Roma, Italy), Sea level change in Western-Central Mediterranean since 300 kyr: Comparing global sea level curves with observed data.
- Prof. Franck A. Audemard (Earth Sciences Dpt.Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research –FUNVISIS- Caracas, Venezuela). Title to be announced (about paleoseismology/neotectonics, in Strike-Slip settings in tropical regions)
